As mentioned, this is Skype Insider Preview, so is available to testers at the moment. This cross-platform update bumps the Skype experience to version 8.35.76.65 and comes with one significant addition. Microsoft now allows Skype users to disable incoming video calls. Some users simply never engage in video calls, while others may use the feature to save data or to make audio call quality better. You may notice there is one Skype version missing from the list of platforms receiving version 8.35.76.65. The Windows 10 Microsoft Store application has not received the update. Microsoft says the UWP application is having issues with crashing while running the update. The company says it is working on a fix that should arrive soon.
Split View
While this is a universal update for across platforms, Microsoft still updates individual apps with new features. For example, last week the Skype Windows 10 app received a handy new release. Microsoft introduced its Split View feature on the app. Split View provides more efficient chats with multiple people. As the name suggests, Split View gives users the ability to split their chat window on Skype for Windows 10. Users access Spit View through the three-dot menu, which will show recent combinations when enabled. A new conversation will appear in a new window and each subsequent conversation will get its own windows.
